“For me they are in the top 5,” Cesare Fioro believes Ferrari can win the championship with Charles Leclerc & Carlos Sainz

Ferrari have had a rollercoaster run until the first half of the season, they were initially thought as the World Champions at the end of the season, but later errors and mistakes have cost them a lot. However, Cesare Fioro still thinks that Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz could win the championship.

This is the first time in many seasons that the team has created a championship contending car, and the start of the season even looked good for them, but now, it seems almost impossible that either Leclerc or Sainz would catch up with Max Verstappen, who is currently leading the championship.

However, the drivers are little to be blamed for this. There have been errors, but most of them were from the team, the major one being strategies and reliability.  Leclerc and Sainz, both had to give up leading positions during races because of engine failures, and wrong strategies used by the team. The team’s former sporting director is impressed by both the drivers, and believes that they can win the championship if the team works in the right direction.

Cesare Fioro states Charles Leclerc & Carlos Sainz, both have their strong points

Fioro also made a point that Leclerc carries an amazing pace during the qualifying sessions while Sainz manages to race fabulously, an important combo. 

“Ferrari has two great drivers. For me they are in the top five,” GPblog quoted him; “Charles is incredibly fast in qualifying and Carlos is fabulous in the race. Sainz and Leclerc are capable of winning the world championship,” he concluded. 

There are a few things Ferrari need to focus on if they need to win any of the championships; they manage to beat Red Bull during the qualifying sessions, but at the same time the race goes horribly wrong, this certainly means that there are quite a few errors in the team, which need to be resolved, the same which Fioro meant.
