The 2022 Italian grand prix will be special for Aston Martin F1 driver Sebastian Vettel as he has a lot of memories of this iconic circuit. Prior to the Hungarian GP weekend before the summer break, the German created a social media account and announced his retirement from the sport on it sending a lot of fans all over the world into tears. With this weekend being the last time that he races a F1 car on the circuit, it will be extra special for him due to a different reason.

Back in 2008 during the Italian Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel was a young gun piloting the Torro Rosso challenger. During qualifying, the German managed to grab his first and also the team’s first pole position in the sport which was a testament to the car’s performance that weekend. It was predicted to be a wet race on Sunday but that didn’t stop him from doing what he does best.

The Torro Rosso clearly had the pace in these conditions with Ferrari Engines powering them. On a drama filled wet race on Sunday, the young driver managed to keep his cool and managed to clinch his and his team’s first win in Monza which was Ferrari’s home ground beating the likes of Raikkonen, Hamilton and Coulthard.

It was an exceptional achievement for Sebastian Vettel as he also became the youngest race winner in the sport. A title which he kept for multiple years until Max Verstappen beat it in 2016. A pile of emotions was building up in Seb’s mind. He further decided to tell us about how he felt coming into the race weekend knowing that it is going to be his last dance at the circuit where he achieved his first victory more than a decade ago.

“I will feel all the emotions when I arrive at Monza – the track where I took my very first F1 win – for one final time. I have always loved the unique feel of the circuit and the challenge it provides, as well as the energy from the fans,” he said.

“I will feel every moment of that intensity this time. The influence and characteristics of this year’s ground effect cars should be interesting – I hope that we see more action at what is typically a tough track for overtaking,” he continued.

It will be tough seeing Sebastian Vettel race in Monza for the last time. The first race that I watched was Monza 2008 which was won by none other than out 4 time world champion. That day I witnessed something breathtaking and am glad to have witnessed his race craft all these years.
