Lewis Hamilton is an all-time F1 great. The seven-time world champion has achieved historic success at the pinnacle of motorsport with Mercedes in the Turbo-Hybrid era. However, the 39-year-old has failed to match the dominant Max Verstappen since the start of the ground-effect regulations in 2022. Now, former F1 driver Christijan Albers has expressed his concerns over Hamilton’s winless run.

The Mercedes driver last won a race over two years ago, at the 2021 Saudi Arabian GP. Since then, Lewis Hamilton has failed to stand on the top step of the podium in F1. Albers highlighted that the seven-time world champion was growing increasingly frustrated as he couldn’t fight for race wins.

Hamilton looked quite frustrated at the end of the season. I can imagine that too.

Moreover, Christijan Albers mentioned that Lewis Hamilton had dominated the sport for a considerable period. Subsequently, the Briton’s current two-year winless stint would have a massive impact on his spirit and could affect his morale as well. Certainly, the 39-year-old remains as hungry as ever to win in F1 again with a new Mercedes contract which extends till the end of 2025.

Sure, he’s had years where he beat everyone, but has now gone two full seasons without a win. That’s going to eat at you.

Lewis Hamilton needs a boost to bounce back in F1

Albers pointed out that it was difficult for Lewis Hamilton to fight for wins due to Mercedes’ failure to produce a fast car. As such, the seven-time world champion would grow tired of trying to make his way up the pecking order once again. Moreover, Hamilton simply couldn’t receive the boost that he needed to turn things around.

He wants more and more, but struggles with the fact that the Mercedes is not going faster. Then at the end of the year, you are exhausted and tired. He hasn’t had that boost that you need for a while.

The 39-year-old has taken a more influential role over the winter break back at Brackley. Lewis Hamilton wants to get his ideas baked into the Mercedes W15 to ensure that the car is on the right trajectory. It is believed that the Silver Arrows have accounted for Hamilton’s requests in its 2024 challenger.

Certainly, Lewis Hamilton would be looking to emerge victorious in F1 once again. The British driver has won over 100 races in the sport but has failed to take a single victory in two years. Fans would be hoping that the 39-year-old could fight for race wins in the upcoming season.
