The drivers of Ferrari, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have an expiring contract ahead of them before the beginning of the next season. However, Charles Leclerc aimed at extending his contract till 2029 with Ferrari. Former Ferrari leader Cesare Fiorio has talked about the contract extension for Leclerc.

The 84-year-old former boss exclaimed that the move to extend his contract till 2029 was a great move for him. He talked about how Leclerc was adding his speed and skills and minimizing the errors. However, Fiorio also added that Leclerc was making too many mistakes and was moving towards the maturity of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

I think it’s a good move, because he’s adding to his speed and skill the ability to limit the number of errors he makes. Until recently he committed too many of them, Now Leclerc is moving towards the kind of maturity that Max and Lewis Hamilton have.

Fiorio said, as reported by motorsport.nextgen-auto.com.

Fiorio further commented that both the drivers [Max and Hamilton] made mistakes but were always very fast. Additionally, the Italian insisted that Leclerc was superior in Qualifying sessions as compared to his Spanish counterpart Carlos Sainz. He also claimed that Sainz was more skilled in managing a race as compared to the Monegasque.

They [Verstappen and Hamilton] make a few too many mistakes, but they are both very fast, Leclerc is better in qualifying and faster than his teammate, even if we’re talking about tenths, not half a second. Sainz is overall more skilled in managing a race.

Cesare Fiorio also applauded Fredric Vasseur for his first year in Ferrari as the boss

Adding to the compliments of the Maranello outfit of Ferrari, Fiorio also talked well of the Frenchman boss Fredric Vasseur. He commented that Vasseur was undoubtedly a great professional and was someone who knows his job very well. Vasseur was always carved for a leadership position according to Fiorio.

The 84-year-old further compared the current boss to the former boss of the team Mattia Binotto. Despite a somewhat successful season from Vasseur, Fiorio claimed that he did not fare much well as compared to Binotto and needed some more time for the true fruit of his work to be showcased.

Ferrari suffered from a mediocre season this time around due to reliability issues from the crew and the drivers. Despite the slump this season, Charles Leclerc along with its team hopes of scoring a win in the next season and having a comfortable position in the constructor’s championship.
