Lewis Hamilton is a seven-time world champion. The Briton has always been the prime target for any team in F1. However, the 39-year-old seemed happy with Mercedes after signing a new contract last season. Now, reports have surfaced that Hamilton could join Ferrari in 2025 in the coming days. Certainly, this has come as a massive surprise to the entire F1 paddock. Now, former F1 driver Karun Chandhok has claimed this to be one of the biggest driver transfers in the sport.

Chandhok recently shared his views on X. The driver-turned-presenter reckoned that the reports of Hamilton’s move to Ferrari were unreal. Moreover, the Indian driver labeled it as the biggest driver move since Lewis Hamilton joined Mercedes after leaving McLaren in 2013. F1 Pundit David Croft claimed it to be the biggest transfer news as well. The former Red Bull junior driver admitted that he did not expect Hamilton to ditch the Silver Arrows for the Prancing Horse.

The 40-year-old was baffled when he tried to understand the logic behind Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari. However, Karun Chandhok highlighted that Hamilton did not need to make a rational decision, the 39-year-old was the second-highest-paid F1 driver in 2023. Subsequently, the 39-year-old potentially needed a new challenge with Ferrari after his time at Mercedes.

Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari move almost a done deal

Lewis Hamilton seemed set to spend the next seasons at Mercedes after signing a contract extension in 2023. However, the Briton is on course to shock the entire sporting world with his switch to Scuderia Ferrari in 2025. The 39-year-old might not be convinced by the development at Brackley over the winter.

Subsequently, Ferrari’s offer could’ve appealed to the seven-time world champion. There are even reports that Lewis Hamilton could race in red in 2024. This would certainly shake the entire sporting world if the F1 icon decides to switch teams just days before the 2024 car launches.

It must be noted that there is no official news about Lewis Hamilton’s potential move. The Briton has not spoken up on these reports. Moreover, Mercedes and Ferrari have so far not commented on the same. However, it seems that Hamilton will be joining Maranello in a dream combination. As such, fans will be waiting to hear an official confirmation in the coming days.
