In a sensational turn of events, Lewis Hamilton has been confirmed to be interested in joining Ferrari for F1 2025 once his current deal with Mercedes runs out. The Briton is going to enter his 18th season of Formula 1 this year, and he has only driven for two teams during this huge tenure–McLaren. Lewis Hamilton had joined the pinnacle of motorsports way back in 2007 and he captured his first-ever World Championship victory in the subsequent year by beating Felipe Massa to it.
From 2007 to 2012, Lewis Hamilton had a fruitful run in McLaren where he won a Championship title and several podiums and even Grand Prix victories. And in 2013, it was announced that the Stevenage native would be switching to Mercedes as a teammate of his then-friend Nico Rosberg.
From 2014, Lewis Hamilton joined Mercedes at a time when the great Michael Schumacher had just left the Silver Arrows. The turbo-hybrid rule change that occurred in the same era saw Lewis soar to the top as the Briton won six World Championships in the next 7 years.
And in 2021, he was finally beaten by Max Verstappen on his way towards winning a record-breaking 8th title. And now, it has been confirmed by Motorsport.com that Hamilton will switch teams once again and join Ferrari, perhaps in Carlos Sainz’s place since Charles Leclerc already has his own multi-year contract with the Scuderia.
Further details on Lewis Hamilton’s racing career expected to be revealed later on
At 39 years of age, Lewis Hamilton has already signed a one-year contract extension with Mercedes. While many of the pundits believed he was going to be dropped from the Silver Arrows as he is already nearing the age at which most Formula 1 racers leave the sport, Lewis silenced all those speculations. And now, there are several reports of Ferrari being interested in welcoming the seven-time World Champion to their team.

Motorsport.com have further clarified that the official confirmation is not here yet and the final contract between Hamilton and the Maranello outfit is yet to be signed. But they have also assured the readers all the details will be finalized within a week’s time and there will be an official notification regarding Lewis Hamilton’s career moves.
This news comes at a time when Hamilton’s performance at Mercedes has seen a steep decline. While the partnership between them has yielded six World Drivers’ Championship titles as well as eight back-to-back F1 Constructors’ titles for Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton has not won a single Grand Prix in the last two years. And perhaps, his move to Ferrari is being finalized in hopes of seeing the Briton get back to his winnings ways, but this time, in the red Scuderia outfit.
