The 26-year-old Max Verstappen sealed his 3rd World Championship title last Weekend in Qatar GP. He has shown staggering pace and the tenacity of a Formula 1 legend in the past three years. Yet the Dutch driver is still far from Lewis Hamilton’s and Michael Schumacher’s records. Eddie Jordan, former owner of the famous Jordan team, thinks Verstappen can be the greatest driver in the sport.

Jordan claimed Verstappen operates on a completely different level and that the Dutch driver will win over 10 World Titles with “playful ease.” The Irish Businessman said, as reported by Autosport.com“Schumacher and Hamilton both have seven world titles. Verstappen goes over the ten with playful ease. That’s not a question anymore.”

Jordan put forth an interesting debate on how Ayrton Senna never wanted a weak teammate. Jordan claimed that the Brazilian Legend invited the challenge gracefully, while Schumacher always sought a weaker teammate. Jordan says Verstappen, on the other hand, never had to bother about this issue because he is too good for everyone else.

The Irishman claimed that Lewis Hamilton was the closest rival to Verstappen, who is under contract at Red Bull until 2028 – five years away. If the Dutchman continues to dominate the way he has this season, he can beat Hamilton and Schumacher’s record of ‘Most World Titles’ by the end of his Red Bull contract.

Eddie Jordan picks Lewis Hamilton as a personal Favourite over Max Verstappen

Jordan also spoke of Lewis Hamilton, the man who has seen the likes of Senna, Prost, Schumacher, and Manson as an F1 team owner and is a clear favorite among the Modern Goliaths of our sport. He was asked who he thinks is the better driver between Hamilton and Verstappen. He was asked to rank the two drivers, considering that the Mercedes hasn’t had a car capable of competing against Red Bull for the past two years.

Jordan replied with a comparison between The Mercedes man and Verstappen. “Verstappen has walked through it quite easily. His mother was a great driver and Jos, Max’s father, was still driving in front of me. I’ve seen the family grow up.”

Jordan further pointed out how Hamilton hasn’t had it easy and had to tackle a lot more social problems than Verstappen. He added, saying, “For Lewis, it was never easy. Of course, there was often something because of his skin color and other problems. His father had three jobs to get him where he is now. His journey was tougher. That’s why I choose Lewis just a little more.”

Jordan also added how the ‘right people’ had to identify Lewis and eventually get him into F1, whereas Max didn’t have to bother so much. It will be great to see Lewis as the underdog fighting to reclaim his lost glory as the two drivers battle for Greatness.
