As per reports, Aston Martin is in talks with the 22-year-old to join them in the role of development driver. Felipe Drugovich is leading the Formula 2 Championship this season and recently, he has talked about his desire to be able to drive in the pinnacle of motorsports that is Formula One.

However, the chances of him getting a seat in F1 are very slim as he is not part of F1’s junior program and there are not many seats available for next season.

Drugovich is currently in his third season in Formula 2 and is leading the pack with a total of 180 points on the board, however, the Brazilian has got Theo Pourchaire right on his tail who has amassed 159 points.

The first half of the season has been kind to Drugovich and if he is able to carry forward his form into the second leg then there are very good chances that he would be able to walk away with the F2 Championship at the end of the season.

Aston Martin has recently announced the signing of Fernando Alonso on a multi-year deal and now they are pretty much set for the 2023 season as far as the driver lineup is concerned.

However, there are still question marks over the future of their reserve driver Nico Hulkenberg. It is the ongoing belief that the German driver is currently vying for his options outside of Formula One and could potentially retire from the sport at the end of 2022.

If this happens, then it would open another door for Felipe Drugovich as he could get asked by the British team to fill in the shoes that Nico Hulkenberg will leave behind.

Drugovih at the moment is only 22 years old and if he gets the opportunity at Aston Martin, then it will bode well for him in the long run and also for his ultimate aim of driving in F1.
