Fortnite joins hands with Formula 1 for an epic partnership and release racer-themed skins for the characters with a Fortnite X F1 collab

Formula 1 has been partnering up with multiple companies in order to increase the popularity of the ever-growing sport. F1 recently purchased the $2.1 Billion Las Vegas Sphere for the inaugural Las Vegas GP. Hence, another important partnership for F1 has been put forth by teaming up with Epic Games’ mega-famous game Fortnite for special F1 driver’s skins in-game.

Fortnite is a online battle royale game owned by Epic Games. The game is free to play but includes in-app purchases. However, the recent partnership isn’t the first stint with F1 that Fortnite has ever done. Lewis Hamilton had his own icon skin within the game with unlockable characters and other styles. Hence, Formula 1 collab with Fortnite especially with team suits isn’t surprising.

In a recent tweet on X, multiple skins adorning the team racing suits has been included. Additionally, Men’s and Women’s styles are different in the game. In the image, the men’s jersey includes McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull, Williams and AlphaTauri’s racing kits on the drivers. However, the skin’s face models do not closely resemble any of the drivers of the respective teams.

For the women’s style, a similar concept as Men’s style has been adopted by Fortnite. In the subsequent image, Alpine, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo [Sauber], Aston Martin and Haas racing team’s racing kits have been adorned by the ladies. This explains that racing suits for all the 10 teams on the grid will be available for Men’s as well as women’s. And much like the men’s, the women’s skins do not resemble any women drivers in the sport.

Other Fortnite X F1 cosmetic items in the game

The team’s racing suit for Men’s and Women’s isn’t the only F1 inclusion in the game. The drivers would have an option to keep the helmets on or off over the skin resembling the iconic helmet’s of drivers in F1. However, the helmets are not driver’s specials and are just a common design adopted by F1 to not get into any copyright issues.

In addition to the clothing and helmets, the players can also purchase a pickaxe (harvesting tool) within the game. The pickaxe is very uniquely designed. The pickaxe contains a tire and back wing of the F1 cars. Players can choose their favorite team to be displayed over the Pickaxe’s back wing. The tires are also surrounded by suspensions, similar to that in a F1 car on the grid.

The Fortnite X F1 collab will surely bring together a lot of fans from the respective categories into one another. As Fortnite’s majority player base is kids, this would inspire and bring a lot of young fan interest to the sport and hence further increasing the popularity of the sport. Time will tell the success of this collab as player’s aim to get their hands on these special F1 skins in the game.
