Lewis Hamilton has sealed his shock move to Ferrari from 2025 onwards, ditching his long-time team Mercedes behind. Hence, the majority of the people on the grid claimed that Maranello would be in preparations to accommodate the seven-time world champion in the Italian constructor. However, team principal Fred Vasseur feels otherwise as he dismissed such speculation.
Vasseur assured that the 2024 season won’t be a ‘transition’ year for Ferrari. In contrast to this, the Frenchman claimed that the coming season was extremely important for the team to showcase the upgrades that they had bought. The 2023 season was a season with great learnings as Maranello failed to score the runner-up by a mere three-point deficit.
No, this is wrong, 2024 won't be a transition year, It's a quite important season for us and I'm fully focussed on this.Vasseur told Motorsport.com.
Additionally, the Frenchman mentioned that the best way to prepare for something was to do a good job down the season. Hence the team remains focused on the 2024 season and achieving the best results possible from the season according to the 55-year-old. Apart from this, Fred Vasseur reassured that the team won’t be at all thinking about Lewis Hamilton’s 2025 arrival.
I think the best way to prepare something is to do a good job. It means that we are focussed on '24, we want to get the best, we want to win races, we want to continue on the path of 2023, and we won't be at all thinking about 2025.
Lewis Hamilton hopeful of great results from Mercedes in 2024
The Mercedes star recently recalled the victory slump that the team faced in the past season. Mercedes scored only one victory in the past two seasons after the regulations change, and Hamilton failed to win a single race. However, the Briton expressed his confidence in the team’s learnings from the past seasons.
The 39-year-old mentioned that the team had finally found their ‘north star’ after working hard for the past seasons. However, the seven-time world champion did not fail to acknowledge the fact that the W15 was still a work in progress. But the driver was confident of facing the challenges produced down the season by rival teams.
The learnings of the past two years have helped us find our direction, it’s enabled us to find our north star. It’s still going to be a work in progress, but we will face whatever challenges present themselves with our heads up, with open minds, and work through them diligently.Hamilton said, as reported by Silverarrows.net.
Hamilton would definitely push himself to the extra mile to juice every ounce of performance from the W15 challenger. The Briton wants to end the season on a ‘high’ and potentially contend for the world championship after a victory drought from the past two seasons. Hence, the Mercedes crew works tirelessly before the testing session in Bahrain tomorrow.
