Ferrari have been unable to get out of the middle order in the standings this season. With questionable team strategies and technical issues, the Maranello-based team is fourth in the constructors’ standings, with first-place Red Bull nowhere near. Despite this, Ferrari chief Fred Vasseur still believes that they are capable of securing a win this season.
Red Bull is the only team to have secured a win this season, with Ferrari only securing one P2. Vasseur said that to ensure a win, they have to secure pole position and stay within two-tenths of Max Verstappen. However, this is a very bold statement coming from him since Charles Leclerc was five seconds behind Verstappen in Ferrari’s best finish this season in Austria.
” We can win a race this year . We’ve already had podiums and Max is in his own category, so we have to work to be at their height. You never know what is going to happen, that’s why you always have to get the most out of the car,” Vasseur said, as reported by SoyMotor.
Vasseur also claimed they are still in contention for second place in the Constructor’s Championship, even though they are behind the current second-place Mercedes by 44 points, with the gap only increasing. Mercedes have brought in significant upgrades mid-season, which propelled them up on the standings, though Vasseur has said that they are still within Ferrari’s range.

Ferrari, yet again, had a disappointing run in the Netherlands. While Carlos Sainz finished a decent P5, Charles Leclerc had a nightmare of a race. From his early contact with Oscar Piastri’s McLaren to his being overtaken by the first-timer Liam Lawson, he had to retire early after troubles with his car. Ferrari chief Fred Vasseur recently talked about the chaotic pit stop, which also did not help Leclerc in any way whatsoever.
After the sudden rain at the start of the race, all the drivers were making their way into the pit lane to switch to inters. Leclerc was one of the first drivers to come in, but the team was not ready for him. The crew did not have all the tires at hand, which resulted in a costly ten second pitstop for Leclerc. However, Vasseur has defended the team, saying that they still managed to come in a much better position than before.
“Yes, because the rain was in the last corner and he decided to pit. It was a very late call, but I think it was still the right decision because we were in a much better position than before even with the six or seven seconds we lost in the pit lane,” said Vasseur.
