The Ferrari F1 team has been operating at a very high level since the start of the 2024 F1 season. They have managed a podium finish at each of the last three races, but after the recent Australian GP 1-2, team boss, Fred Vasseur has asked his personnel to keep their feet on the ground.
Carlos Sainz secured a sensational Grand Prix win at Albert Park and that has infused immense optimism at Ferrari. However, despite the upward trajectory of the team, Fred Vasseur understands there is still a long way to go this year.
The 2024 F1 season has still got a total of 21 races remaining on the calendar.
We were not disappointed with our results in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, nor are we getting carried away because of this one-two finish. We must continue with this approach in the coming races because that’s the only way we are going to get the results we want.Fred Vasseur said in an interview with F1
Looking at the reaction of the Frenchman, it is quite clear that he wants Ferrari to keep progressing. Moreover, he ardently feels that if the Italian team keeps up its positive run, it will definitely be able to challenge for Grand Prix wins regularly.
Ferrari is no more in a ‘survival mode’ in F1
While Fred Vasseur wants Ferrari to not get carried away after a strong start, he has also made it known that this year’s SF-24 is much better in terms of tire deg, in comparison to last year’s challenger. The SF-23 proved quite unpredictable on the different compounds.
Vasseur is of the opinion that Ferrari is no longer operating in a survival mode.
This year, it's much easier I think to read for them, to know where is the limit, and to stay just a bit below. And when you have to go to tyre management, it's much, much easier. hey are much more under control than they were last year, when they were a bit in the survival mode, and by this you are killing the tyres quite quickly.Fred Vasseur said in an interview with Motorsport
After three rounds of the 2024 F1 season, the Maranello-based team is only four points behind the Max Verstappen-led Red Bull outfit in the Constructors Championship. Keeping this in view, several eyes will be on the tussle between the Ferrari and Red Bull cars at the Japanese Grand Prix. The track characteristics will suit both teams and their drivers.
