George Russell, ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, has talked about his infamous on-track and off-track tussle with the reigning World Champion, Max Verstappen at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend. As per the Brit, his on-track fight with the Dutchman was an example of pur racing and nothing else; he has further admitted that he has moved on from that incident.
At the ongoing Miami weekend, George Russell was posed a question by David Croft whether he would change his way of racing since his incident with Max Verstappen. As a response, Russell added, “No, I will continue racing the same way as I always would. A lot has been said about that coming together but from my side, it was pretty straightforward. I went for a move, got the move done, and moved on. Obviously, he was pretty upset about it but that’s racing and these things happen. And we’re all here to fight so that’s what everyone’s about.”
George Russell has advised the 2-time World Champion to move on from the incident as it is in the past now, and there is nothing that can be done about it. Moreover, following on from Crofty’s question, Phil Duncan from PA asked the Brit whether he has spoken to Max in order to clear the air. As a response, he added, “No, again, from my side there’s no air to be cleared. I’ll welcome and say hello to him if he passes by and I’m sure we’ll shake hands when we bump into each other.“
“For me, it’s history now and it’s behind us. Yeah, my view of him is still the same, I still respect him, I still think he’s a great driver, and obviously, things were always said in the heat of the moment but yeah, we move on.” The 25-year-old has made it known that while he feels his incident with Verstappen was a racing one, he still has the utmost respect for his rival and would most probably acknowledge him if they pass in the pitlane or the paddock area in Miami.
Max Verstappen and George Russell could come to blows again in Miami

The Mercedes F1 team and the Red Bull F1 team are operating on different levels in the ongoing campaign, and the latter is just too far ahead of the German giants. However, despite the Milton-Keynes-based team’s dominance, there is a chance that Max Verstappen and George Russell could find themselves close to each other in Miami.
The F1 circuit in Miami is also a street circuit. If the Toto Wolff led-Mercedes can find some extra performance during the upcoming weekend, then there could be a real possibility of seeing the two drivers going at each other’s throats once again. However, it would be extremely difficult considering the might of the RB19.
The FP1 session of the Miami weekend is just a few hours away, and it will be crucial for Mercedes to find the right balance on its W14. Otherwise, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton could be in for a painful three-day outing at the picturesque Miami F1 circuit.
