In the last few years, Max Verstappen has witnessed a massive rise in his stock as an F1 racing driver. He has won three consecutive world titles since 2021 and while sport is currently at a halt, Ex-F1 driver, Gerhard Berger, has taken the time to applaud him.

Gerhard Berger ardently believes that Max Verstappen is the greatest driver in the history of the sport. Moreover, he recently admitted that Verstappen is better than greats like, Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna.

While shedding light on his reasoning, he said, as reported by Auto Motor Und Sport:

Senna and Michael Schumacher benefited from racing karts from an early age and doing nothing else in life other than racing. But Verstappen still drives virtual races on the simulator in his free time. Sometimes three a day. So he is always busy with this topic. I can’t think of anything that could be done better than him. That’s why Max Verstappen is probably the best we’ve ever seen in Formula 1.

Looking at the reaction of the Austrian, he has made it quite clear that Verstappen’s knack for doing sim racing has immensely helped him in his F1 career. Moreover, has even gone on to admit that he is the best driver in the overall history of the sport.

Max Verstappen is currently the only driver who could break the F1 world title record

While Gerhard Berger has left no stone unturned in applauding Max Verstappen for his sensational exploits, the latter last year, equaled Ayrton Senna’s three world championships record. Moreover, he could equal Sebastian Vettel‘s four titles record by the end of the 2024 F1 season.

While the 26-year-old has a chance of securing a fourth title, he is being seen by many pundits as the driver who could break Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton‘s seven world titles record. Verstappen is still relatively young and thus, has several years ahead of him.

Max Verstappen entered F1 in 2015 with Toro Rosso, but since moving to Red Bull, he has continued to hone his skills year after year. Moreover, he is still evolving and this is the scary part for the other nineteen drivers on the current grid. As things stand, there is a very good chance of seeing the Dutchman extend his winning run at least until the end of the 2025 campaign.
