Ferrari-bound Lewis Hamilton has had a disappointing start to the 2024 campaign during his final year with Mercedes. The seven-time world champion failed to score a podium finish in either of the two races. On the contrary, Charles Leclerc had performed better than the Briton. Hence, Former Ferrari driver Giancarlo Fisichella shared his opinions on the battle between the two drivers following Hamilton’s move to Maranello.
Giancarlo Fisichella expressed that the competition against Charles Leclerc would be ‘tough’ for Lewis Hamilton. Fisichella asserted that both the drivers were amazing and quick, especially during the qualifying sessions. As a result, Hamilton’s move to Maranello could put forth some exciting action between the Briton and Leclerc.
It’s going to be tough, They are two amazing drivers, two quick drivers, especially in the qualifying sessions.Fisichella told Express Sport.
Apart from this, Fisichella claimed that Charles Leclerc would always be on top and pointed towards multiple pole positions by the 26-year-old. Additionally, the former driver added how the Monegasque had been a part of the Italian Constructor for a couple of years. Hence, beating Leclerc at Ferrari would not be easy even for the F1 veteran according to the 51-year-old.
Charles is always on top, he has scored a lot of pole positions. Charles has [been integrated] into the team since a few years [ago], so for Lewis, it will be not easy to beat him.
Giancarlo Fisichella claims Lewis Hamilton will have an easy transition at Maranello
Lewis Hamilton had been in Mercedes for 13 years prior to joining Maranello. Hence, multiple people asserted how the transition would be difficult for Hamilton to the Italian Constructor. However, Fisichella felt differently about the status quo. The former Ferrari driver mentioned that it would be easy for the Briton to fit into Ferrari. Additionally, the 51-year-old praised the atmosphere and crew within Maranello.
But it will be easy for Lewis to get into the team because the atmosphere in Ferrari is great and the people are so nice, so you feel straight away in the family.
Apart from this, Fisichella advised the seven-time world champion to focus on racing while racing for Ferrari. Spending a lot of time in the Maranello factory and having great concentration would help him score great results within the constructor. Hence, a great bond with the mechanics would also help take Hamilton a long way in Ferrari.
think he needs to be very focused on it… [have] concentration… spend a lot of time in the factory, Maranello, with the mechanics.
Hamilton would race as a Silver Arrow for one last time under Mercedes in 2024. The 39-year-old previously showcased his wishes to end the season on a ‘high’. However, seeing the current state of Brackley, one could understand the slim chances of the team winning. Hence, time will tell about how the team fares against the rivals on the grid during the 2024 season.
