Gordon Ramsay ditches countrymen Lewis Hamilton and George Russell at Silverstone and chooses to stay in the Red Bull garage

British chef Gordon Ramsay has chosen the Red Bull garage, rather than Mercedes where two of his countrymen drive.

Formula 1 always attracts celebrities to Formula 1. This time it’s Gordon Ramsay, who’s visiting in the Red Bull garage. This is not the first time that Ramsay has visited a Formula 1 team. Ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Ramsay had visited the Ferrari garage. Earlier this year, Ramsay had also wished the McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo good luck for the season.

Perhaps it’s curious that Ramsay has chose to visit the Red Bull garage, instead of Mercedes, where two of his countrymen are in the cars. This is not Ramsay’s first association with Red Bull either, as he had celebrated with the team in Jeddah, where Max Verstappen had won the race, just ahead of Charles Leclerc.

The famously ‘angry’ chef had also been spotted talking with Christian Horner at the event. He had also handed the pole position award to Sergio Perez, earlier that weekend. Perhaps Ramsay’s decision to not visit his countrymen’s garage when the race is in Britain will be controversial, but it’s possible that Ramsay is just a Red Bull fan.

Jos Verstappen
Red Bull ahead of Ferrari

Friday was a disruptive day for the Red Bull duo. FP1 happened under the rain, and that compromised the running of all the teams. In FP2, Verstappen noticed noises coming from his car, which eventually turned out to be damage to his new floor. Sergio Perez will not receive this new floor in Silverstone.

In FP3 however, the Red Bulls looked supreme, especially Max Verstappen. The Dutchman was four-tenths clear on top and looked incredible. Sergio Perez followed him in second place, around 0.037s ahead of Charles Leclerc. It seems that Max Verstappen is continuing his amazing run of form.

In a rain-affected qualifying session, Max Verstappen has looked supreme, and topped both Q1 and Q2 by large margins. He was more than 7 tenths ahead of Charles Leclerc in Q1, and four-tenths ahead of Lewis Hamilton in Q2. Verstappen looks well-poised for pole position, and to seek revenge for last year during the race.
