Christian Horner furious with FIA’s decision to intervene after persistent complaints of ‘porpoising’ from Mercedes

Christian Horner has every right to feel hard done by after FIA decided to help out Mercedes before the Canadian GP. Red Bull has been brilliant when it comes to the development of the car and this has allowed them to have that cutting over rest of the teams. One of the major problems that almost all of the teams have faced has been porpoising.

There have been teams where the effects are not that severe but some teams like Mercedes have had no answer to this problem whatsoever. It got to a point in Baku where Lewis Hamilton even picked up a back injury due to severe bouncing. This led to Toto Wolff going to the FIA to step in and do something about this issue before it gets dangerous and becomes a safety issue for the drivers.

But, the flip side of the situation is shouldn’t Mercedes be the one to prioritize safety of their own drivers by raising the ride height and cutting down on the speed. We all know that F1 is a game of development and other team should not have to pay the price for someone else’s mistake. Christian Horner went a step ahead and said that these measures are dangerous since the teams don’t have control over their own cars.

Christian Horner was absolutely fuming with FIA’s actions before the Canadian GP. He said, “What was particularly disappointing was the second stay because that has to be discussed in a technical forum.”

“And that is overtly biased to sorting one team’s problems out, which were the only team that turned up here with it even in advance of the TD.

That surely is down to the team, that’s within their control to deal with that. It’s not affecting others. I know they’ve said that other drivers have been complaining, our drivers have never complained ever about porpoising,” as reported by the-race.

Christian Horner is well within his rights to express disappointment after a decision by FIA which clearly shows that it’s take to help out the struggling Mercedes.
