Guenther Steiner and Haas F1 team have made some good progress since 2020 when it comes to their driver signings and pace. However, it has been proven that it’s not enough. The team has been facing a tough season despite having the ‘suck my bal*s’ duo of Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen under them. The team has failed to have consistent results over the course of the season.

In their 2023 campaign, Haas has faced issues when it comes to tire wear, affecting both its drivers. Although, there is an upgrade package on the way to rectify their situation. Before Zandvoort, the team had 11 points to their name. Williams was on par with the American F1 team. However, Alex Albon’s eighth and seventh at the Dutch and Italian GPs have sent Williams up on the leaderboard with 21 points to their name.

Speaking about the situation in an interview, here is what Guenther Stainer had to say. “No, I’m not confident,” Steiner told media including RacingNews365 when asked about battling Williams. “They are doing very well, they’re in front of us. Our aim is to do the best job possible with what we have got every weekend, and to get the best out of it. Most of the time, we have achieved it, but we just need to get our pace better,” he continued.

The last time Haas scored a point was back at the Miami GP where Kevin Magnussen came home in 10th place. Ever since then, the team has been struggling to get into the points. Guenther Steiner has also raised concerns stating that he’s not confident about the car’s  package when it comes to competing with Williams. However, Haas did pick up three points during the sprint race in Austria.

Ever since 2019, whoever won the Italian GP eventually ended up retiring from next year’s iteration. Charles Leclerc won in 2019 and crashed out in 2020. Same for Pierre Gasly in 2020 and Daniel Ricciardo in 2021. However, Max Verstappen won the Italian GP in 2022 and also went on to win this year. This meant that the Dutchman has broken the curse having also broken Sebastian Vettel’s record for the most consecutive wins. On the other hand, Haas’s upgrade could possibly do wonders for them if everything goes as planned.
