Lewis Hamilton‘s 2025 transfer to Ferrari was first announced at the beginning of February. Ultimately, the British driver decided to take a risk and use the exit clause in his current Mercedes contract. Although many had assumed Hamilton would remain with Mercedes until his retirement, the British driver had other ideas.

Guenther Steiner, the former Haas team principal, claims that perhaps Lewis Hamilton made the right decision. With Mercedes’s current struggles with their W15, it might be the right decision for the seven-time world champion to switch teams.

According to Steiner, joining Ferrari is Hamilton’s opportunity to claim an eighth world championship.

It looks like he is making the right decision. He did that when he left McLaren to go to Mercedes. So maybe he’s got this one right as well.

Ferrari is doing really well this season, in every race so far, they have had a podium. Their SF-24 has a brilliant pace, which allows the drivers to put their best foot forward. Steiner believes with the new 2026 regulations, it might be possible for the seven-time world champion to claim his eighth title with the Maranello-based outfit.

Lewis Hamilton is maintaining an optimistic outlook

Mercedes’s struggles are known to the entire F1 world. The team is falling on the chart, and its future is pushed into total darkness. Their new challenger, the W15 is the reason behind the team’s poor performance.

The team’s worst nightmare came true at the Australian GP with a double DNF. Despite the adversities, Lewis Hamilton is surprisingly very calm about the situation.

Surprisingly, I feel pretty good. I’m trying to keep things in perspective, you know, this like, could be so much worse. It’s never a great feeling when you come all this way, and you don’t see even half of the race, but what I know is that we will bounce back, we will eventually get there, we just have to continue to chip away.

It’s rare in the case of Mercedes to have a double DNF. However, despite the struggles that the Brackley-based team has had so far, Lewis Hamilton is keeping a positive outlook. He genuinely believes that at some point this year, Mercedes will bounce back strongly in the fight at the front end of the grid.
