The Haas F1 team is the youngest outfit on the grid. The American team started in 2016 and rose to the midfield in just a few seasons. However, financial troubles forced Haas to slip down the order in recent times. But now Team Principal Gunther Steiner reckons his team can fight right at the front of the field for a race victory soon.
The 58-year-old stated that the team’s main objective this year is improving the Constructors’ standings. Haas finished P8 in the championship in 2022. The American team aims to make progress every season in its efforts to fight at the front. However, Gunther Steiner admits that the team is eager to win a race at the pinnacle of motorsport.
Although the Italian could not specify the exact timeline, Steiner gave a rather vague idea of when his team can emerge victorious at a GP. He said, “At some stage, it will happen with Haas.” Albeit the Haas F1 team has failed to even grab a podium finish in its time in the sport so far, Gunther is hopeful that things will inevitably change for the better.

Gunther Steiner’s Haas to have its 150th GP in Monaco

The American team is in its seventh season in F1 this year, with the squad achieving the milestone of 150 GPs in Monaco this weekend. Steiner had still not gotten his head around this achievement, with the Italian being part of the Gene Haas‘ project from the start. Moreover, Gunther stated, “I live from day to day, from race to race”.
The 58-year-old was proud of what Haas has achieved so far. The American team might be the youngest on the grid, but it has given fans some delightful moments, such as Kevin Magnussen‘s surprise Pole at the 2022 Brazilian GP. However, Gunther made it clear that there was still a long way to go in its exciting journey at the pinnacle of motorsport.
Thus, Gunther Steiner is confident that Haas will win a race in F1 sooner or later. The American team has survived financial troubles and now even has a design office in Maranello to boost its efforts. As such, it is certainly possible for a Haas driver to stand on the top step of the F1 podium one day. Although for now, fans will have to wait to witness this spectacle.
