Carlos Sainz has been left without a seat for the 2025 season after Ferrari decided to replace him with Lewis Hamilton. However, since receiving this information the Spaniard has been on a roll and has claimed two podiums out of his first two appearances. This has led to Hans-Joachim Stuck urging Red Bull’s hierarchy to sign the ousted Ferrari driver.

Carlos Sainz won the Australian Grand Prix on return from his appendicitis surgery. This earned the Spaniard praise from all around the paddock, as he fully utilized the opportunity presented to him. On the other hand, the win came as a shock for Sergio Perez, who was in the other Red Bull and was only able to salvage a fifth-place finish despite Max Verstappen‘s retirement.

If I were the boss of Red Bull, I would use all means possible to find a fair solution to terminate the contract with Sergio Perez. There are certainly clauses in the contract. And then I would offer [Carlos]Sainz the cockpit. At the moment there is no-one better. Firstly, I would like it because competition stimulates business. Secondly, I'm sure Max[Verstappen] would sleep worse if he knew that Sainz would be his new team-mate.
Hans-Joachim Stuck said in an interview with Eurosport

The German explained that if he was the team principal of the Austrian outfit, he would have found a way to terminate the Mexican’s contract and bring in the former three-time race winner. Also, if Red Bull brings in Sainz, Verstappen would have some serious competition within the team.

Helmut Marko breaks silence on Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen’s Red Bull relationship

Sainz and Verstappen started their careers together in 2015 with Toro Rosso (VCARB). However, the teammates in the sister squad were in fierce competition. Moreover, the Dutchman was promoted to Red Bull while Sainz was stuck in a paradox and left the Red Bull pool of drivers soon after.

Helmut Marko explained how the relationships between the two fell apart.

It was [Sainz's] bad luck to get Max as a team-mate. The atmosphere between the two at Toro Rosso was quite toxic. In the set-up we had at the time, I couldn't see a way of keeping him with us and so he moved to Renault, McLaren and then on to Ferrari.
Helmut Marko said in an interview with Red Bulletin

The Austrian elucidated that it was the Spaniard’s misfortune to have got Verstappen as his teammate. Moreover, due to each driver trying to have the upper hand in the junior outfit, a toxic environment developed in Toro Rosso, which led to Sainz leaving the team.

Despite the sour taste, relations between Red Bull and the 29-year-old seem better. For the ongoing campaign, Sainz will be focusing on his last season with Ferrari and hopefully, ending it on a high note.
