“He deserves a place in F1,” Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso heap massive praise on Nyck De Vries for outstanding F1 debut in Monza

Nyck De Vries is driving the Williams FW44 in place of Alex Albon at Monza and has received huge praise from Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso on his splendid debut qualifying session in F1.
Nyck De Vries has got the nod on the Williams F1 team as its driver Alex Albon is down with appendicitis and thus won’t be able to take any part in the upcoming race at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza circuit.
Moreover, what makes the 27-year-old’s qualifying session extremely impressive is the fact that he was able to land his car in Q2 ahead of Nicholas Latifi who got knocked out of qualifying at the end of the Q3 session. Latifi has been driving the Williams livery all season, and to out-outqualify him in his first attempt, deserves massive praise.
Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton have recognized the efforts of the 27-year old and Alonso while praising De Vries said, “I think when you jump in a car and you only have one practice, obviously it’s difficult to get up to speed. So a very good day for him. Hopefully, tomorrow is a good race as well.”
After the Italian Grand Prix qualifying, De Vries has become the first driver in more than 40 years to drive two different liveries in a single race weekend, and Alonso believes his earlier stint with Aston Martin helped the Dutchman in getting up to speed at Williams.
Alonso further adds, “I think it helped him to do FP1, arguably, so he got a little bit more experience, but I think he’s doing good and hopefully tomorrow we can fight as well in the race, not too much, but it’s going to be good fun.”

While Fernando Alonso has showered De Vries with a lot of praise for his qualifying exploits, Lewis Hamilton has also appreciated the Dutchman and is happy that he was finally able to drive an F1 car during a competitive session.
De Vries has been closely associated with the Mercedes F1 team and Hamilton feels that he deserves a full-time spot on the F1 grid. While talking about him, Hamilton said, “I haven’t seen his quali performance but Nyck is a very talented driver.”
“I’ve known him since he was really young, when I was at McLaren my dad was trying to help him get into Formula 1.”
“He’s been a real valuable member of our team, he does a lot of work on the simulator. He’s always super-positive, he fires me emails. And so I was so happy to hear this morning that he’ll be given the opportunity to drive.”
“He deserves a place here, I think, so I hope today’s been good for him.”
Lewis Hamilton is happy that Nick De Vries, after years and years of hard work has finally been given the opportunity to drive in F1 as a race driver and wishes for him to be on the F1 grid on a permanent basis very soon.
The upcoming Grand Prix is going to be of the utmost importance for De Vries as chances to secure a future F1 seat do not come along very often, and it is going to be up to him to showcase his full arsenal of skills during the race so that the various teams keep him in their minds while filling the remaining seats for the 2023 F1 season.
