In only three races, George Russell has commanded control over the car and is always looking forward to getting the best out of it. Not only is he above Lewis in the drivers championship but also in the 2nd position. In the Australian Grand Prix, he grabbed his first podium with Mercedes. His drives this season have been impressive and the Formula One fans across the world are loving it.

Considering that Mercedes have made many mistakes while making the car, George has still gotten 100% out of the car when no one expected him to do so. Even in the hard times, there have been situations where George was better than Lewis.

In an interview, Marc Surer said, “It’s much too early but he is doing a tremendous job but to beat Hamilton, there is a long way to go,” as per gpblog. He believes that it is too early to decide whether George is the number 2 driver or not. Obviously Hamilton will be Mercedes’ first preference currently, but if the point gap keeps on increasing then things might change.

The title race is heating up as there are very thin margins between the drivers for 2nd position and looking at their current situation, Mercedes would be eyeing at that spot.
