The fun in Formula 1 was marred by the restrictions imposed by the authorities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Audience and motorsport fanatics make up a huge chunk of an F1 weekend, but for two years, the spectators were not allowed to visit the international circuits where the Grand Prix’s take place to decide the Formula 1 Championship.

But in 2022, the FIA decided to give back to the F1 fans all the fun that they had missed and more by introducing the longest-ever season in the history of this sport. Currently, amidst the Ukraine-Russia tension, the Russian Grand Prix remains cancelled, but if it is replaced by another GP, then this season will have 23 races. And of those 23, we have only seen 4 races. But the fans already have an idea of who is going to be the Championship frontrunner for this year.

While Charles Leclerc started the season with a strong record of pole positions and race wins, reigning World Champion Max Verstappen fell behind him due to reliability issues with his car. But in Imola, Red Bull upgraded their RB-18 and Verstappen succeeded in getting a triple win in Italy–a pole position, a Sprint win and a Main Race victory as well. Keeping all this in mind, Red Bull Team Advisor Dr. Helmut Marko talks about his picks for the Championship title this year.

As we are four races into the current season of F1, Charles Leclerc of Ferrari has won two races while Verstappen has won the other two. The two drivers have the best of the cars to power them up, and only one target in mind–the Championship title. F1 veteran Helmut Marko has witness their competition by himself, and now he is analysing the performances of the two drivers.

While Leclerc wants to give Ferrari their first win since 2008 by winning the WDC, Max Verstappen wants to continue his winning streak by adding another Championship title to his name. Red Bull Advisor Helmut Marko believes these two talented drivers are in a league of their own, and no other driver in the rest of the pack can catch up to them to surpass them and become the World Championship.

Helmut Marko has also talked about the only other driver whom he thinks to be talented enough to be in Charles’ and Max’s league. He said, “The only talented driver I still see in this league is Lando Norris, but he doesn’t have the best machinery at the moment.
