Dr. Helmut Marko, the advisor and head of Red Bull’s driver development program, has disclosed the forthcoming partnership dynamics between the Austrian side and their sister team AlphaTauri. It is part of the ongoing restructuring under the new Red Bull management. The team will be rebranded ahead of the 2024 Formula 1 season and will be put under a new leadership.

In a recent interview, Marko gave valuable insights into the changes coming to AlphaTauri. He revealed growing tension between Red Bull and the backmarkers of the 2023 season over resource allocation. Marko pointed out that some AlphaTauri designers believed that they could match RB-19 if they were given the same financial backing, and this attitude caused tensions.

There were always differences between Italy and England. AlphaTauri sometimes had designers who were of the opinion that if they had the financial means that Red Bull Racing has, then they would actually be better as Red Bull Racing. This conflict simmered throughout this entire cooperation,” Marko said, as reported by MotorsportsTotal.com.

He further explained the changes introduced to the team in 2024. Marko said, “Two new managing directors are coming, there are clear structures. AlphaTauri has a branch in Bicester in, England, with around 150 people. They are now being moved to a building in Milton Keynes.”

AlphaTauri and Red Bull Racing are poised for a new phase ahead. Dr. Marko has introduced a development that holds the potential to redefine their partnership and potentially improve AlphaTauri’s position within the F1 hierarchy.

He promises more collaborations that could yield better results for both parties involved. Marko stated, “Everything that is permitted by the regulations must be adopted by Red Bull Racing. No more in-house constructions, no more peculiarities in Faenza.”

The 2023 F1 season has so far been two polar opposite stories for Red Bull and Alpha Tauri. The former has won all the races so far in the season and, with Max Verstappen as the leader, is untouchable. On the other hand, the latter has the slowest car on the grid, and if not for Yuki Tusnoda, it would have been pointless.
