Helmut Marko, the Red Bull team adviser, has a well-known reputation for not mincing words and being absolutely blunt. The Milton-Keynes-based team, like F1, has been pushing for lighter engines from 2026 onward but has faced criticism from Fred Vasseur and Toto Wolff. Marko feels the move on the part of the two Team Principals is completely uncalled for and is unhappy.
The Red Bull F1 team nailed the new regulations brought into play ahead of the 2022 season and has since been reaping its rewards. While the team is enjoying a rewarding period in F1, it has also got its eye on the next set of regulation changes that would come into effect from 2026 onward.
Helmut Marko is not happy with people in the Formula 1 paddock who are opposing a move toward lighter engines. While talking to Formel1.de, he said, “Vasseur continues his love affair with Toto [Wolff], so there is little resonance at Ferrari. At Renault, they don’t know what they’re doing.”
It is a common belief that F1 is looking to have lighter engines from 2026, but the downside of all this would be the car’s aerodynamics. Marko feels some brands are worried that if they slim their car, then there would be no air resistance, and that means the effect of the slipstream will be lost.

Helmut Marko’s Red Bull has been on the warpath in 2023
While Helmut Marko is not happy with certain personalities in the F1 paddock, Red Bull has been doing brilliantly since the start of the 2022 season. The Austrian outfit dominated its competition last year, and they have taken their dominance to another level during the ongoing campaign.
Max Verstappen has brilliantly led the team from the front, and on the back of the performances of the Dutchman and Sergio Perez, the team has won all 12 races so far in the season. Moreover, Christian Horner and Co. have already revealed that they will try their best to win all the races during the second leg of the 2023 season as well.
Red Bull has produced a beast for this year’s campaign in the form of the RB19, and as things stand, the two Championships have just become a formality as the Austrian team is comfortably cruising at the front. F1 is returning from the 25th of August, and their fans are going to expect much of the same that they produced before the ongoing summer break.
