The 2024 F1 seats on the AlphaTauri team were a huge point of discussion until Helmut Marko and Co. announced that they are going to stick to Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo for next year. While the flames around this have gone off, Tsunoda has been in the rumors about a potential move to Aston Martin. Marko has given his take on it.

According to Helmut Marko, Yuki Tsunoda is currently under contract with Red Bull. If Aston Martin wants to hire him, they’ll need to talk to Red Bull first. Red Bull recently extended Tsunoda and Ricciardo’s contracts with their team until the end of 2024.

Helmut Marko while shedding light on Tsunoda’s Aston Martin rumors, said, “Tsunoda is under contract with us. If Aston Martin were interested in him next year, they would have to come to an agreement with us first.” Being the straightforward and blunt person that Marko is, he has made it clear that there is no point in talking directly to Yuki Tsunoda as long as he is contracted to Red Bull.

The 80-year-old Austrian is the main man who pulls all the strings around Red Bull’s junior team. Moreover, considering the blunt response that he has given around the 23-year-old’s Aston Martin prospects, it seems that Red Bull wants to keep its option open. In case Tsunoda performs as per Red Bull’s expectations in 2024, they might want to keep him in the Red Bull pool of drivers for several years.
