Red Bull have been cruising past their opponents in the 2023 season. Max Verstappen currently leads the driver standings with 281 points, with his teammate Sergio Perez in second with 171 points. This kind of domination was last shown by Red Bull from 2010 to 2013 when they consecutively won four championships with Sebastian Vettel.
Red Bull chief Helmut Marko was asked if the current Red Bull team is the best he has ever seen. As he agreed with the statement, he also mentioned that Red Bull could potentially finish the season with both of their drivers in the first and second position along with the constructor’s title, a feat Red Bull has never achieved.
“Yes, I think so – because of the efficiency and the ease with which many things have happened. We have never managed to take the first two places in the Drivers’ Championship and win the Constructors’ Championship, and that could happen in 2023,” Marko said in Hungary.
Although it remains to be seen whether Marko’s prediction could come true, while Verstappen is way ahead in the standings, Perez leads Alonso by a small gap of 33 points. With Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris starting to catch up, second place might not be so secure for Red Bull.

The RB-19 won’t get any more upgrades after the Hungarian Grand Prix

Even though Red Bull has the most dominant car on the track, they are still constantly looking for room to improve. The team arrived in Hungary with a major sidepod upgrade. Although the qualifying didn’t go well, the car did wonders in the race, with Verstappen calling it a rocket.
Red Bull principal Christian Horner stated they could not make the car go any faster due to the ten percent wind tunnel reduction. He emphasized prioritizing and said that the team is focussing on next year’s car so they don’t fall behind amidst massive upgrades by rival teams like McLaren and Mercedes.
“There are circuit-specific bits and pieces. With the limitation of wind tunnel time, we have to make our choices. Of course, we are putting a lot of focus into next year now to make sure that we don’t fall behind. McLaren have made a big step; we are expecting the others to do it later in the year as well with the limitations we have,” Horner said.
