“He would certainly have the potential for it,” Helmut Marko sees Sebastian Vettel in management position in future F1 seasons
Only a few weeks ago, Sebastian Vettel bid his farewell to Formula 1 amidst a grand ceremony which took place at the end of the 2022 season finale in Abu Dhabi. The German announced that he would be walking away from the sport where he has sent roughly fifteen years of his life since his debut in 2007 way back during the initial part of the year, but even then, fans could hardly keep their emotions under control as Seb finished his last race as a regular F1 driver with Aston Martin in the 9th position, carrying home two points to his credit.
But many of the people attached with Formula 1 are convinced that this is not the last time they will be seeing Sebastian Vettel in the paddocks. While Seb has clearly mentioned that he is done with the driving role in the pinnacle of sports as he wanted to retire to devote more time to his family, there remains a possibility that the four-time World Champion will be back in a new avatar in the near future. And Red Bull’s Chief Advisor Dr. Helmut Marko has seconded this opinion as he also reckons F1 is yet to see another side to Seb.
In a recent interview, Helmut Marko revealed that he hopes to see Sebastian Vettel take up a new role in Formula 1 in the upcoming seasons of the sport. According to the Austrian, he has previously talked to Vettel and it has been clear to him that the 35-year-old is open to a management position, even though his interest in driving in F1 has waned. And thus, Helmut Marko teased in his conversation with Sky Sports Deutschland that Seb will be back in the game as a new person in the coming years.
Helmut Marko gushes on Sebastian Vettel as he believes he can be the perfect F1 team manager
Sebastian Vettel has had some glorious years with Red Bull, where Helmut Marko serves as the Chief Advisor. Vettel was almost invincible during his tenure at the Austrian outfit between 2010 to 2013, and thus, Marko has seen firsthand what the German is capable of. Thus, he reckons that Sebastian Vettel will be a perfect team manager if the role is offered to him. He said, “He would certainly have the potential and personality for it, but let him plant some trees for now.”
Sebastian Vettel’s name had come up quite a few times when it was announced that Ferrari’s Team Principal Mattia Binotto would step down before the next season and the Scuderia will look for another leader. While Frederic Vasseur was chosen to take that place, some fans believe Seb, who has been a former driver for the Maranello outfit, would have been a great choice too. Now, it only remains to be seen if Marko’s prediction comes true and Sebastian Vettel does return in a new role years after his exit from F1.
