The Mexican Grand Prix weekend is done and dusted, and the Red Bull team adviser, Helmut Marko, has taken the time to dwell on the outing of AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda. The Japanese had his bright moments during the 71-lap race, but silly errors cost him at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez F1 circuit.
Yuki Tsunoda started his Mexican Grand Prix outing from 18th place on the grid, and by the time the second restart came about, he was in eighth place. However, after the second restart, he looked a bit too eager to make moves on his rivals, and on lap 41, it cost him dearly. While going on the outside of Turn 1, he made contact with Oscar Piastri, and that cost him a few positions.

The Japanese ended his exploits in a disappointing P12, and Helmut Marko, while talking about his drivers’ outing, didn’t mince his words and publically criticized him. The Austrian has revealed that he expected more from Tsunoda in Mexico.
Yuki was also fast, but he made not one but three stupid mistakes. He should have just finished eighth.
Marko said, as reported by Motorsport.com.
Moreover, has admitted that, while he was pleased with the pace that the Japanese driver showed in his AT04, he could have been a bit more sensible with his opportunities. Had Tsunoda not been too eager, he could have finished ahead of Piastri, bringing in a double-point finish for the team.
Yuki Tsunoda needs a solid end to his 2023 F1 season
While Yuki Tsunoda missed out on scoring points at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez F1 circuit, he had a really good outing the United States GP weekend. At the Circuit of the Americas, he finished in a brilliant eighth to bring in five valuable points to his team.

The Brazilian Grand Prix weekend is just around the corner, and Tsunods needs to keep his good form going until the end of the campaign. Daniel Ricciardo, the other AlphaTauri driver, has been doing a good job from his end, and if the 23-year-old is also able to keep up his good form, then it bodes well for the whole team.

AlphaTauri is currently on 16 points in the Constructors Championship and has a slight chance of getting at Williams. The British team has so far amassed 28 points, but considering the upturn in Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda, the Faneza-based team can pull off an upset by the end of the 2023 campaign.
