Even though Lewis Hamilton had a better finish than most of his races in the past few days in Baku today, he was in a lot of pain during and after the race as the world watched him get out of his car. Since the start of this season, Mercedes have been having a lot of porpoising issues in their cars, especially Hamilton’s, and on Azerbaijan’s main straight during the race, the car was bouncing like anything, commentators even said that you can hear the suspension of the car over the engine sound.

This certainly means that Mercedes haven’t been able to come up with a proper solution for the porpoising, which was only a matter of pace until now, but after this race, is also affecting the physical health of drivers. Hamilton was seen wobbling while trying to get out of the car after the race due to backache that he experienced during the race. Following up on the same, Toto Wolff, team principal of Mercedes stated that Lewis might not be able to attend the Canadian Grand Prix due to the same issue about his back.
“We have just got to find a solution,” Wolff furious about the issues.
Toto Wolff is most certainly worried about Hamilton and his health, and at the same time he is worried about the team and their performance, and finding a permanent solution to this porpoising has become a need now. “He’s really bad,” Motorsport quoted Wolff. “We have just got to find a solution. At this stage I think he is maybe the worst affected from all drivers. But pretty much everyone, as far as I understood from the drivers, said that something needs to happen.”
When asked about Lewis attending the Canadian Grand Prix, the Austrian gave a very sketchy reply; “Yeah, definitely. I haven’t seen him and I haven’t spoken to him afterwards, but you can see this is not muscular anymore.”
“I mean, this goes properly into the spine and can have some consequences.”
This certainly puts Lewis’ presence in the Canadian Grand Prix, which is up next on the calendar, in question. Mercedes have managed to stay on 3rd in the championship with 161 points after a 3 – 4 finish in Baku.
