The 20th of May, 2022 marks three years of the death of racing legend Niki Lauda. Niki joined the sport in 1972, and within a very short period of time, the amazing driver managed to win three World Championships in 1975, 1977, and 1984, making it one of the highest records at that time.

Niki Lauda was also known for his infamous crash at Nurburgring, Germany, in 1976. The German was in the Ferrari, battling his opponent, James Hunt, when all of a sudden he faced a suspension failure which led to him hitting the walls and his car getting converted into a ball of fire, only to be saved by four fellow drivers.

The driver suffered from a lot of burns, almost touched death, but made an amazing return to the sport just a month after the crash.

It is famously known that Niki Lauda was the person who influenced Lewis Hamilton to join Mercedes, which ultimately helped him win 6 World Championships, making him equal with Michael Schumacher’s 7 titles record.

This is not the first time we have seen Lewis Hamilton get emotional over a driver who has influenced him; Hamilton shares the equal love and respect for Ayerton Senna as well, who has been Hamilton’s role model.

The entire Mercedes team and Niki Lauda shared a very beautiful relationship, and a major reason for Mercedes’ success in the hybrid era is Niki Lauda, who had helped the entire team with his experience and expertise to develop their car.
