“Hopefully more points” Mick Schumacher makes his expectations ‘crystal clear’ for the second half of the season
Mick Schumacher
This season, Haas and Mick Schumacher have gone multiple steps up in terms of performance. Haas and Schumacher scored 0 points for the entirety of 2021. But that changed for the team at Bahrain this year, when Kevin Magnussen finished fifth, but unfortunately, Schumacher had to wait longer.
The search for his first F1 points continued till the British Grand Prix, where Haas scored double points. Next race, they did it again, and Schumacher finished a very impressive sixth. While the next two races have not been near as good for them, there will hopefully be more opportunities in the future.
Haas introduced their first major upgrades in Hungary for Kevin Magnussen, with some calling the car ‘The White Ferrari’ but unfortunately, it did not perform as well, just like Ferrari didn’t either. But their fortunes may improve, as an upgrade package is due for both cars in Belgium, which Schumacher Jr. hopes will bring him more points.
Guenther Steiner: Haas meeting targets for the season
As reported by GPBlog, Mick Schumacher is clearly hoping for the season to continue in the same vein as it had gone for him in Britain and Austria. He said: “Hopefully more points. We have some tracks ahead which should be good for us, and we have some tracks that will probably be difficult.”
Guenther Steiner had said that both cars will finally receive an upgrade package in Belgium: “Yes, both cars will have the upgrade package. We had one kit ready before the shutdown so we said we’ll put it on one car to collect some data so when we’re back, we have that data and now we can already work on the set-up, getting out in Spa straightaway.”
And Haas seem to be currently meeting their targets for the season: “We haven’t readjusted, we are just back to where we wanted to be at the beginning of the season, now being in seventh. Hopefully, we can keep this position in the championship, that’s battle number one. Battle number two is trying to get to sixth, but let’s see. We will always do our best and try to improve or at least not fall back.”
With the upgrade packages they are due to receive, they will definitely hope for a much-improved performance. Haas had been cautious about upgrades for this exact reason – they want to get it right. Time will tell if they have got it right this time.
