“I am fully focused on the upcoming race,” Lando Norris hopes to get back on track after a failure in Miami

McLaren had a shocker in Miami which saw both Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo finish out of points. It was imperative for the British manufacturers to build on that strong performance in Australia to be able to put some substantial pressure on Mercedes who sit comfortable in that 3rd position. The performances by Daniel Ricciardo have been poor to say the least. The only positive for McLaren this year has been Lando Norris.

After making a slow start to the season, the young Brit quickly got back into his stride and started to deliver what’s expected of him. We saw his showing signs of getting back into form in Australia when he finished P5 just behind the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton. But the race when he looked his usual self was Imola.

Lando was not scared to take the fight to Ferrari and that determination and some luck brought him his first podium of the season. We all expected Lando to take it up a notch in Miami and try and help McLaren fight for that third place. But it went horribly wrong for him as he wasn’t even able to finish the race after involved in a collision with Pierre Gasly. What this meant was that McLaren is now 49 points behind Mercedes who secured P5 and P6 in Miami.

Lando Norris looks all set to bounce back after a disappointing outing in Miami

It’s a long season and Lando Norris is wary of that fact. The young Brit addressed the incident in a recent interview where he said, “I’m looking forward to getting back to Europe and racing in Barcelona this weekend.“

“I’ve put the failure in Miami behind me and am fully focused on the upcoming race. Miami showed that we still have a long way to go before we are consistently competing at the top again.“

“It’s important to stay optimistic in the meantime,” as reported by gpblog.

Lando Norris has shown maturity way beyond his years and the reaction after the incident is another example. Now, he would like to deliver in Spain to stay true to his words.
