Guenther Steiner is Haas’ team principal with Mick Schumacher joining his team in 2021, Steiner is now in control of the driver’s future. MICK Schumacher is in direct contact with Ferrari and looks at his future with them. But this hinders the connection between Mick and Haas as the driver doesn’t know what’s going on with his future. Guenther Steiner is in no hurry to get in talk with Mick as he has no control over the Ferrari deal.
As of now, Mick and Haas are not in contact for a future contract with Guenther waiting for Monza to initiate his first talk. But Haas has all the authority to decide its drivers with no obligation from Ferrari. Guenther gives a reason for taking no decision to make a contract with the 22-year-old. Haas has never made a decision prior to Summer break to decide their driver for the next season and they will stick to this in 2022 as well.
“We don’t have to wait to see what Ferrari says. We never decide the driver before the summer break and we will not do so this year. Obviously, I will start to speak with Gene over the summer break”, Steiner said.

Guenther Steiner also opens up to Mick ultimately driving for Ferrari in the future. He tells Racer.com about not knowing anything about the deal Mick and Ferrari have had. He also refuses to open up to details between Haas and Ferrari as well.
“I don’t want to speak about our Ferrari deal because otherwise, they get upset!. At the end of the day I don’t know the real deal between Ferrari and Mick — and I don’t need to know. If he decides to go somewhere else, I cannot change it,” Guenther concluded.
Haas is currently P7 in the constructor Championship, with Mick scoring his first points this season he has already given out brilliant performances he was brought into the team for. Mick scored a total of 12 points with his teammate scoring 22 points giving Haas a total of 34 points.
