It has been a long time since the final race of the 2021 season where Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton went head to head to decide the world championship winner. The race ended in the most controversial way it could have after Michael Masi, the race director, issued some confusing orders after Nicholas crashed. The race which was being led by Lewis Hamilton suddenly took a final lap turn and Max managed to finish first and win the Championship.

Horner stated that he now understands why the Mercedes fans were so angry; because of what they felt on the final race of the season, and it snatched the championship out of Lewis’ hands.

“If you’re a Max fan you feel like it’s redemption for what happened earlier in the year,” SilverArrows quoted him.

According to him, what happened to Lewis at the final race was something Red Bull and Max Verstappen had suffered the entire season, and so, the actions of the FIA and race director was justified, and he also states that Verstappen absolutely deserved the championship.
