Alfa Romeo were the first Formula 1 team to reveal their actual car for the upcoming 2023 season. This will be Alfa Romeo’s final season with Sauber, with the partnership set to end after this season. The two parties first joined forces in 2018. In 2026, however, Sauber will morph into Audi, who have already brought a minority stake in the team.

The livery of Alfa Romeo’s 2023 challenger, dubbed the ‘C43’ has been very well-received. This time around, they’re sporting black and red as the main colors. The livery is generally touted as the best one revealed yet. People were especially pleased to see that it was on their actual car. Now, they’ve become the first ones to attain another milestone. They have also now become the first team to conduct a ‘shakedown’ in 2023.

Valtteri Bottas was the first of the Alfa Romeo drivers to hit the track. The running took place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the venue of the Spanish Grand Prix and a very popular track for testing. Zhou Guanyu will also be participating, and it will definitely be important to him as he gears up for his second season in the sport. There will be increased expectations around him. It’s an important day for the team and the drivers, and the fans are delighted to get a peek at it.

In just around two weeks, all Formula 1 teams and drivers will be in action at the pre-season testing in Bahrain. Barely a week after that ends, the season will begin. Fans will be able to get an inkling of how each team could fare in 2023 at the pre-season tests in just some time. But for now, they’ll have to be satisfied with the knowledge that at least one team has taken the car on the track. And the photos, of course.

Just seeing a Formula 1 car on the track is enough to excite fans – the break can’t end soon enough. The reaction to footage of Alfa Romeo’s track day reflects that. The fans, and pretty much everyone who follows Formula 1 is starved for some action by now.

It’ll be interesting to see what team will follow suit with their own ‘shakedown’, and whether fans will get to take a look at their actual car for the 2023 season. Of course, six teams are yet to ever launch their car (or livery, depending on their plans) for the upcoming season – so that’s something to keep in mind.
