“I just keep my head down,” Lewis Hamilton hits back at Helmut Marko’s disrespectful comment

Lewis Hamilton’s terrible start to the season has made him the prime target for criticism. His performances, which have largely been outshined by his teammate George Russell, altogether make it easy for the critiques.
A rivalry, which brewed largely in the 2021 season, keeps hitting the Briton back when he is at his lowest in years, as recently, Red Bull’s chief advisor, Helmut Marko, was amongst others who have suggested that Lewis should’ve retired or he must be considering it now, given the situation in the Mercedes garage. Lewis Hamilton has now hit back at these comments and has called them disrespectful.
Helmut Marko hitting at Hamilton had said, “I mean, he was lapped by us, so I don’t know. Maybe he is thinking he should have stopped last year,” referencing the moment when Max Verstappen lapped his arch-rival in the Imola GP.
How did Lewis Hamilton reply?
Lewis shot multiple birds, including Mika Hakkinen, with a single stone. He said, “People always love you when your up and love to kick you when your down. That’s part of life. Naturally I’ve seen some of the things people who I grown up admitting as a kid, and even in my sport, that have come out with certain comments. Some disrespectful. Some not particularly respectful. I take that as fuel. I’m putting that into the pot.”
He added, “It’s not going to stop me in my tracks. I have been racing 29 years. I’ve had way more difficult times than this and I’ve bounced back. So it’s not how you fall, it’s how you get up. That for me just highlights to those people, nothing you say or do will stop me in my tracks.”
Lewis currently stands P7, hitting one of the lows of his career. With several developments coming up in the car, thanks to the massive factory and team behind the scenes, things might soon improve for him.
