“I like to use acronyms to pump me up”: Daniel Ricciardo explains the meaning of the ‘FEA’ message on his Monaco helmet

McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo

When Daniel Ricciardo started his F1 2022 campaign with McLaren, the Australian racer found no luck with his MCL36 as he delivered poor results in the initial races. After finishing out of the points in the season opener in Bahrain and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, he finally got a P6 position in his home Grand Prix in Melbourne.

But just when the Honey Badger’s fans thought he had improved and become more comfortable with his new car, Daniel Ricciardo finished the Imola Grand Prix at the last position after crashing with Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari in the first lap of the race. Then, in the Miami Grand Prix and in the Spanish GP, he had similar luck as he could not score any Championship points in both the races.

But these upsetting results never caused Daniel to get his morale down. The Australian is known all around the F1 paddocks for being one of the most cheerful drivers in the grid, and he has proved everyone once again that he cannot be taken down by just a series of unfortunate race finishes. So, in the Monaco Grand Prix, Daniel wore three curious letters etched onto his helmet, and they were–“FEA”. On being asked to elaborate on it, Daniel Ricciardo revealed the meaning behind the acronym.

As Daniel Ricciardo has not fared too well in the current Formula 1 season, the Australian 32-year-old has been receiving several criticisms from many F1 fans, pundits, and others, who believe that his career in the sport is finished, and he should try out some other series like IndyCar next.

But all the comments do not seem to have had an effect on Ricciardo, as he went all out in the Monaco Grand Prix with “FEA” etched onto his helmet. When asked about the meaning behind it, he said it stands for “F*** ‘Em All”.

Daniel further commented, “I put it on my helmet in 2018 as well. I like to use acronyms to pump me up. It’s honestly not directed at anyone, it’s something that I’ve said for a few years, and it just kind of gets me in my happy place.”
