The Dutch Grand Prix was a race filled with excitement, drama and thrilling overtakes. At one point, Lewis Hamilton looked ripe to take the win at Zandvoort, but alas! it was not meant to be.

After the Virtual Safety Car, it seemed that Lewis was on the road to victory, but that was not the case. Due to Valterri Bottas experiencing an issue with his car, the Safety Car was brought out towards the end of the race closing the gap between the championship leader and the rest of the grid.

While most of the drivers, including Lewis’ teammate George pitted during the Safety Car to switch to the soft tyres, Hamilton stayed out keeping the lead of the race. This move cost him the race win as Max Verstappen his rival and winner of the Dutch Grand Prix, pitted during the Safety Car, giving him an advantage in terms of tyres and in turn leading him to win the race.

Seven time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton has had a devastating Formula 1 season this year and has been out of contention to win the World Championship. The 37 year old British driver, has a record of winning atleast one race in every Formula 1 season he has been a part of and this season he has yet to win one.

Hamilton has stood on the podium a couple of times this season but has yet to secure a victory to keep his unbeatable record intact. He came close at the Dutch Grand Prix but due to a botched strategy call by the Mercedes team, his hopes for a win were extinguished.

The British driver showed considerable race pace during the Zandvoort that was a huge improvement since the start of the season. He is confident on his hopes for a race win and believes that if they (Mercedes Team) keep continuing on this path then a win is possible at the Italian Grand Prix.
