“I see no reason why I shouldn’t stay,” Zhou Guanyu confident about his seat in Alfa Romeo for 2023

With many drivers in a hassle after the ‘silly season’ debate, Zhou Guanyu isn’t worried about his F1 seat and is comfortable with Alfa Romeo. The Chinese made his debut in Formula 1 this year with the team, and until now has been performing well for a rookie. He has had a few DNFs after his car had multiple issues, but under the guidance of former Mercedes driver, Valtteri Bottas, he has been learning quite a lot, and showing that in the races. Both Valtteri and him are sharing a mutual bond, and he is consistent with his performance.

Recently, after Vettel’s retirement and Alonso’s decision to move to Aston Martin, there has been chaos in the sport. Alpine announced Oscar Piastri as their driver, but at the same time he refused the seat, and there are speculations about McLaren replacing Daniel Ricciardo with Piastri next season, and if it happens, the Australian would be left without a seat. Although there have been no official statement from McLaren about the same, the chances look good as Ricciardo has been underperforming since the very start of the season.
In the midst of all this, Zhou has been comfortable and secure about his seat in Alfa Romeo, and plans to stay for the next season as well.

Zhou Guanyu has “no reason to leave”
Guanyu thinks that this is not the right time to talk about the next season, as it would probably be after Spa, Belgium, but he still thinks that there is absolutely no reason for him to leave the team.
“I feel like at the minute… in the off-season maybe I was worried about my future but right now I am not too worried about my future,” GPfans quotes him.
He also stated that he is past the point where he needs to prove himself to the team, and looking at his pace, his team thinks he has been impressive (for a rookie), and currently he has no plans to switch teams.
