“I think it’s so tight with Ferrari”: Christian Horner predicts yet another Abu Dhabi title battle for F1 2022

The title race in Formula 1 is like a thrilling joyride that takes place all through the year, and never fails to attract millions of motorsports enthusiasts all around the world. While the scales for the Championship titles during the previous turbo-hybrid era of Formula 1 had been tilted towards Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, things are not the same now.
Last year, we got to see a thunderous battle between Hamilton and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, and their conflict went on till the very last race in Abu Dhabi, where the later was crowned the Champion. The ferocious competition between Verstappen and Hamilton had been the talk of the F1 town for months following the season finale in Abu Dhabi, and Christian Horner predicts, the situation might turn out to be the same this year as well.
With new rule changes in Formula 1, the competing cars are now surprisingly close in terms of technical specifications and the finer aspects of engineering. While some cars still lag behind when it comes to race pace, the first five drivers in the WDC Standings are quite close to each other, and any one can clinch the title this year. The Red Bull principal believes as the competition is so close this year, a repeat of the last season’s Abu Dhabi race might be awaiting the F1 fans in 2022.

With five races that have happened in this tumultuous current season of Formula 1, it has been seen that Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc are in a neck-to-neck fight with each other. Max, the reigning World Champion wants another go at winning the title while Charles, the Championship leader from Ferrari, wants to establish his team’s supremacy once more.
And as the battle seems to be so tight between the two, Christian Horner believes it will take many races before the Championship is awarded to any one of them.
Speaking on this, Christian Horner said, “There’s a great respect between Charles and Max. They are enjoying racing each other, you can see that. I think I was rather hoping we weren’t set for another competitive year like last year, but it looks like this one could go all the way as well. There’s a long, long way to go and I think it’s so tight with Ferrari, there’s been some great racing.”
