As the Formula 1 2022 season has only ten races left and it is already time for the summer break, it is almost everyday that we are receiving news about the drama going on at the drivers’ market. While it is safe to assume that teams like Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull will be retaining their current drivers for the 2023 season, there are some other teams which might see a massive change in their lineup as their contracts with the racers are coming to an end. One such team is Williams Racing, who entered into a contract with Red Bull Academy racer Alex Albon prior to the 2022 season.

Although the Thai-British racer had sat out the F1 2021 season due to a lack of seat in any of the F1 teams, he returned to partner Nicholas Latifi at Williams and had done a great job as the team’s debutant driver. As the situation stands right now, Albon has 3 points to his name, and has displayed several good performances in the recent races. Following up with his efficient driving as a Williams racer, the British team has decided to sign a multi-year deal with him for the 2023 season and beyond. This news was first disclosed by Williams and later confirmed by Albon on his own Twitter handle.

The news about Alex Albon’s contract renewal with Williams is the newest development in the driver’s market, and it has put a smile on the face of every Albon fan who expected this deal to come through, judging from the racer’s good performance in this season. Williams got a huge makeover as their ownership shifted hands from the Williams family and was purchased by an American investment company.

Jost Capito took over the position at the helm of the team and made vast changes to improve their performance after the exit of his predecessor, Claire Williams. They have now got huge ambitions for their future and recruiting Albon is one step towards securing that.

Speaking of Alex Albon’s contract renewal, the young racer said, “It’s really exciting to be staying with Williams Racing for 2023 and I look forward to seeing what we can achieve as a team in the remainder of this season and next year.”
