“Is that really fair? No” : Guenther Steiner agrees with Red Bull in regards to the FIA’s intervention in reducing porpoising

The FIA’s effort to minimize porpoising has not been well praised. Max Verstappen and Helmut Marko, representing the interests of Red Bull Racing, called it “stupid,” and Guenther Steiner stated he didn’t see the extra value.
As was revealed earlier this season, team head Steiner does not always concur with Red Bull. Although the two parties involved are completely antithetical on the question of raising the budget cap, they have reached a compromise on the new ‘technical directive.’

Updating the standards in the meantime, according to the American-based racing team Haas’s team principal Guenther Steiner seems to be something he prefers to prevent at all costs.
“You change something fundamentally, you could change the pecking order completely again. Is that really fair? No. The use of the safety factor… but that could be approached, too — if it is too dangerous, just raise your ride height,” said Steiner.
The FIA’s involvement, according to Steiner, was what needed to be avoided. Mercedes, in particular, could end up becoming the fox in the henhouse. Because the crew of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell has the most porpoising issues with its W13, the international motorsport federation may be the first to request that the ride elevation be raised.
