“It is disappointing because I’ve done a good job”: Mick Schumacher speaks in protest of Haas’ decision to oust him

Mick Schumacher
At only 23 years of age, with a Formula 2 Championship victory to his name, and the legacy of the legendary Schumacher family to hold up, Mick Schumacher has suddenly found himself unemployed. The young German got dropped from Haas, the American team with which he debuted in the highest league of motorsports, and was unable to find a suitable seat at any other Formula 1 team for the 2023 F1 season. But even now, he believes his racing potential was quite evident in his performances and Haas should have given him another chance to shine.
As the son of the seven-time F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher, Mick Schumacher had a lot of expectations to live up to when he stepped into Formula 1 with Haas. But throughout the 2021 season, he could not gather any points for his team and in 2022, he did get 12 points, but was hugely outperformed by his Danish teammate Kevin Magnussen. Undoubtedly, Haas chief Guenther Steiner was not pleased with the results that Mick was bringing for the team.
In the end, it was decided that Mick Schumacher will not continue as a regular Haas driver for their 2023 campaign, and Guenther brought in Nico Hulkenberg for the newly vacant seat. Hulkenberg is another German who had previously had to sit out a few F1 seasons due to the lack of a suitable seat at one of the teams. Now that he has gotten the chance to drive for an F1 team once again, it is believe that he will give it his all to prove his worth.

Mick Schumacher says he should have been given more time at Haas
Mick Schumacher had always been very grateful to Haas for giving him the opportunity to debut in Formula 1, but their decision to oust him in 2023 does not sit well with him. He answered a question on whether the teams are nowadays too hasty with their decisions, not giving enough time to the young drivers. He said, “I don’t know how other young drivers are treated and can only speak from my own experience. It takes time.“
He also spoke for himself when he said, “It is disappointing in a way because I think I have done well this year. The team has taken a different decision and I have to accept that. Now I have to focus on the future.“
But the game is far from being over for Mick Schumacher as he has gotten several options laid open in front of him now that an F1 seat in 2023 is not going to come his way. He might become a reserve driver for Mercedes or he might go into some other racing league to prove his mettle there. Now, it remains to be seen how the young German manages to put his racing skills to use without a seat at one of the F1 teams.
