Leclerc and Sainz

Ferrari are the main championship contenders against Red Bull this season, and Charles Leclerc has been having a time of his own in that F1-75, they were the ones leading the championship, but after losses from Carlos Sainz and engine issues from Leclerc, they have moved behind in the championship. Other than those issues, they have also been facing other ones quite recently, out of which we saw during the British Grand Prix and during the Sprint race at Austria. Their potential target is Max Verstappen, but instead of chasing him, both Leclerc and Sainz kept fighting each other, and wasted a lot of time, giving advantage to the Dutchman.

Fans and Leclerc were eagerly waiting for some team orders for Sainz to support his teammate for him to get the win, but that did not happen as much as it was expected to be, instead both of them were left battling each other. When Mattia Binotto, the team principal was asked about this, he stated that this is not the right time to pass team orders as there is not such a significant gap between the drivers, and there still are chances that Sainz could surpass Leclerc in the championship.

Although Mattia said “It is not yet time to give team orders, there are only 12 points between the two. Both drivers know that if at some point on has a better chance for the title, we will prioritise them. It is part of the contracts,” as Corrier dello Sport quoted him, it is necessary to understand that the gap that has been shortened between the two drivers is due to Ferrari’s failing Power Unit which saw Leclerc retiring early from two races, and then a later penalty making him start the race from the back of the grid, making it to P5 in Canada.

Leclerc currently stands third in the championship, 43 points behind Verstappen, and 12 points ahead of Sainz.
