“It was quite difficult to finish,” Esteban Ocon reviews the French GP as the toughest race of the season until now

Esteban Ocon

Esteban Ocon is currently going through his second season with Alpine and he has been performing fine along with Fernando Alonso. In the recent French Grand Prix, his home race, he managed to score only 4 points. He described the race as the hardest one he has had throughout the first half of the season. Until now in the 2022 season, there have been 13 rounds, and 9 remain for after the summer break, and upon analysis of Ocon’s performance, he has managed to score points in ten out of the thirteen rounds until now, which is satisfactory for the Frenchman.

The reason, as he described, for the difficulty during the French Grand Prix weekend was not the track or the car, but the heat, for him. The temperatures were higher than usual, and there was no sign of any rain, which made it hard for him to get through the entire weekend. Esteban Ocon finished 8th in the race, after starting from 10th on the grid, showing an improvement. His teammate, Alonso, managed to finish off better than him, but he had only a single overtake, as he started 7th and finished 6th.

The Frenchman’s performance has been undoubtedly satisfactory as he has managed to score a total of 58 points until now, with the highest finish being P5 at Austria.

“I think the race at the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet was the toughest Grand Prix for me so far this year, because it was really very hot,” GPblog quoted Esteban Ocon;

“The whole weekend there was a lot of heat and it was quite difficult to finish the first part of the season.”

Alpine currently stand 4th in the championship standings with 99 points, after leaving McLaren behind, who are now chasing with 95 points. Although there has been much stability in the team until now, but with Alonso’s departure for the next season and all the speculations, there has been some chaos about their 2nd driver for the past few weeks, and no official statement has yet been released.
