“It will be difficult to manage with the pain” Carlos Sainz questions FIA after Lewis Hamilton’s back injury due to porpoising

Carlos Sainz
Recently, Carlos Sainz has had troubles scoring points in his Ferrari after multiple DNFs due to spins and the car’s reliability issues. The latest one happened in Azerbaijan, after Sainz started 4th on the grid. Just a few laps into the race, his car suffered engine issues and he was out of the Grand Prix. A few more laps later Charles Leclerc, too, had to retire due to engine issues. However, even worse than this carnage was an issue almost all drivers faced during the race. The porpoising. Lewis Hamilton complained on his radio multiple times about the car “killing his back” due to the bouncing down the main straight on the track.

Baku has one of the fastest straights in F1, and so, the porpoising that the drivers faced was brutal. Even after the race, Lewis Hamilton could barely get out of his car due to the back pain he suffered from. Toto Wolff even said that Lewis might not be able to attend the Canadian GP after the worsening back pain.
Furthermore, Carlos Sainz stated that the FIA now needs to do something about the issue, as it is not what the drivers deserve.
What is causing the porpoising?

F1 cars are one of the most advanced cars ever made, and their safety is what sets them apart. However, this year, with the return of the ground effect in cars, the aerodynamics were set apart when compared with the aerodynamics of the cars last year. This has caused many teams to lag out and not have such developed aerodynamics, and that makes the cars bounce up and down on fast and long straights. Although this issue did not affect the drivers so much, now it is indeed becoming a major thing.
“We need the FIA to react quickly, as it will soon be difficult to manage with the pain. Is it necessary for 20 drivers to have back problems after each race, despite all this technology? Is it really worth it? I don’t think so,” stated Carlos Sainz, quoted by FormulaPassion, after looking at Hamilton’s pain-filled race at Baku.
