“It will be like rolling a dice,” Lewis Hamilton lacks optimism over Mercedes’s pace ahead of the final qualifying session of 2022
Lewis Hamilton
It has been a tough year for Lewis Hamilton. The 7 time world champion has arrived at the very place where he lost out on winning a record breaking 8th world championship a year ago. Max Verstappen did the honours and swept it away right from under the his nose. Nevertheless, Lewis has been on a charge ever since then and this is his moment to get redemption.
Coming into the Abu Dhabi GP weekend, Lewis Hamilton is still aiming to get his first win of the year which he still hasn’t been able to. The 7 time world champion has managed to win a race in every season that he has competed in. Unfortunately it seems like this record may or may not stay after this weekend gets over. The British pilot is still trying to get a win under his belt for this season.
Coming into Friday practice at the Yas Marina Circuit, Lewis Hamilton topped FP1 where the W13 looked like it had the pace to be at the front. However, it changed in FP2 where the long runs are normally conducted. At least according to Lewis who finished fourth in the session topped by Max Verstappen who on the other hand is aiming for his 15th win of the season.
Lewis Hamilton is worried about tyre management during qualifying
The Mercedes driver talked about his performances so far and the concerns that he has going into qualifying. Here is what he had to say. “In FP2, the balance was a bit off, so we need to adjust some things overnight, but we looked reasonably competitive. Tyre management for qualifying will be difficult. In FP1 you could still do a slow run to get the tyres going, but in VT2 it took much longer. So it will be like rolling a dice,” he continued.
Similar to Brazil, Lewis Hamilton is keen on displaying a similar performance at Abu Dhabi to end the season in style with possibly ending it being on the top step of the podium. Ever since last year, we’re sure that the multiple world champion will be eager to seek redemption at this track and beat everyone else to cross the checkered flag first. It will be interesting to see how Lewis performs in qualifying and in the race.
