“It’s a friendly competition between Ferrari and us,” Helmut Marko on the battle between Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc

Helmut Marko

Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc have been going head to head since the start of the season and it looks like this will go on for the remainder of the season as well. The battle for the Championship is fierce but the respect is not lost. The drivers as well as the teams are showing complete sportsmanship and respect towards each other. Although Ferrari have a lead at this point in time, Red Bull is chasing them like a bull.

Helmut Matko is delighted with Red Bull’s performance. At Imola, Red Bull gained a lot of points on Ferrari as Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc were able to score only 8 points combined, whereas Red Bull won the race and got the P2 as well. It was quite unlucky for Carlos and Charles as both drivers crashed in the race, which led to this result.

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez’s performances were brilliant as they claimed some big points in the race on Sunday as well as the sprint race. The Championship battle is heating up as the race results are getting too unpredictable. Helmut Marko feels that after last season’s narrow championship win for Max, Lewis Hamilton should have stopped racing and retired. Marko feels that Hamilton is struggling to get in form as he can’t even match his teammate and he is getting lapped.

On being asked about the development speed, Marko said, “I don’t think so, what we saw is when we put real pressure on them and they are making mistakes. It’s a good sporting and friendly competition between Ferrari and us,” as per gpblog.

Ferrari and Red Bull have made the best use of this new car that was developed according to the new mandates. While others are still struggling to find pace, Red Bull and Ferrari are in a league of their own. If any other team wants to get a taste of gold, then it is going to be a big task to defeat these 2 giants.
